ආනාපාන සති භාවනාව - ආනාපානසති භාවනාව පිළිබද ලියැවී ඇති ඉතා ක්‍රමවත් එමෙන්ම ඉතා සරල කුඩා පොතකි. 

භාවනාවෙන් චිත්ත ඒකාග්‍රතාවය වර්ධනය කරගැනීමත් සිතෙහි දියුණුවත් සිදුකර දෙයි. එයට අදාල ප්‍රයෝගික කරුණු විග්‍රහ කරමින් මාතෘකා දෙතිසක් යටතෙහි මෙහි කරුණු සවිස්තර කර ඇත.

සතිපට්ඨාන බෞද්ධ භාවනාවේ හදවත - බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ විසින් දේශනා කරන ලද සතිපට්ඨාන සූත්‍රයෙහි ඇති ගැඹුරු හා පුළුල් වූ විශේෂ වැදගත්කම් කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කරමින්, එහි සදහන් ඉගැන්වීම් අවබෝධ කරගැනීමට හා ප්‍රායෝගිකව ඒවා භාවිතයට ගැනීම සදහා අවශ්‍ය මූලික උපදෙස් ලබාදීමක් මෙම කෘතිය මගින් සිදුකෙරේ.

'භාවනා' විෂයට ද එය එසේම ය. නොයෙක් වෙනත් භාවනා ක්‍රම භාවනා උපදෙස් ආදියෙන් මිශ්‍ර වී බෞද්ධයින්ට තම දහමේ නියම භාවනා ක්‍රම හා උපදෙස් හරිහැටි හඳුනා ගැනීමට නොහැකි තරමට මිශ්‍රව කිලිටිව පවතී. ඒවා හඳුනාගෙන නියම බෞද්ධ භාවනා විධි තෝරා ගැනීමට පහසු කරවීම සඳහා මෙය අත්පොතක් වනු ඇත.
