1912 නොවැම්බර් මස 28 වන දින ජපානයේ ෂිමෙන් ප්‍රිෆෙක්චයේ මිට්සු නගරයේ උපත ලද හජිමේ නකමුර ජපාන ප්‍රාචීන වේදියෙකු, දෘෂ්ටිවේදියෙකු, දාර්ශනිකයෙකු සහ වේද, හින්දු හා බෞද්ධ ශුද්ධ ලේඛන පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥයෙකු ලෙස ලෝක පූජිත ශාස්ත්‍රඥයෙකි.1936 දී ටෝකියෝ ඉම්පීරියල් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයෙන් ප්‍රථම උපාධිය ලබා ගත් ඔහු 1943 දී සාහිත්‍ය චක්‍රවර්ති උපාධිය ද 1957 දී වේදාන්ත දර්ශන ඉතිහාසය පිළිබඳ ආචාර්ය උපාධිය ද ලබා ගත්තේ ය.1943 දී ටෝකියෝ ඉම්පීරියල් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සහකාර මහාචාර්ය ධූරයට පත් වූ ඔහු 1954 සිට 1973 දක්වා එම විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේම මහාචාර්ය පදවිය හොබවා පාලි හා සංස්කෘත භාෂාවන් මෙන් ම බෞද්ධ ශුද්ධ ග්‍රන්ථ පර්යේෂණය හා ප්‍රචලිත කිරීම සඳහා මහත් සේ දායක වී ඇත. පොලි ත්‍රිපිටකය ප්‍රථම වතාවට ජපන් භාෂාවට පරිවර්තනය කිරීමෙන් ජපානයේ මහත් ප්‍රසිද්ධියට හා ජනප්‍රසාදයට ලක් වූ එතුමා, පෙරදිග හා දකුණු ආසියානු රාජ්‍යයන් හි විශේෂයෙන් තායිවානය, කොරියාව හා ජපානයෙහි අනාගාමික විද්වත් අධ්‍යයනයන් කෙරෙහි මහත් බලපෑමක් කළ විද්වතෙකි.1973 දී සංස්කෘත පාලි හා පුරාතන භාරතීය දර්ශන පිළිබඳ ව ශාස්ත්‍රීය, පර්යේෂණ සඳහා ටෝකියෝ පෙරදිග ඇකඩමිය පිහිටුවීම නකමුර මහාචාර්යවරයාගේ විශිෂ්ට සේවයකි.පුළුල් ක්ෂේත්‍රයක ශාස්ත්‍රීය පර්යේෂණයන් හි යෙදුණු මහාචාර්ය නකමුර පුරාතන භාරතීය ඉතිහාසය, ප්‍රාථමික බුදු සමයෙහි ලක්ෂණ, භාරතීය දර්ශන සම්ප්‍රදායන්, විශේෂයෙන් පෙර අපර දෙදිග සංස්කෘති සබඳතා යන විෂයයන් ඇතුළත් විෂය ග්‍රන්ථ 170කට වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් ද දහසකට අධික ඉංග්‍රීසි හා ජපන් භාෂාවෙන් රචිත ලිපි ද සම්පාදනය කර ඇත.ඔහුගේ ජීවිතයේ අවසාන අවධිය, දකුණු අත පමණක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ හැකි ගිලන් ඇඳකට සීමා වුව ද, දකුණු අතට පෑනක් දුන් විට, ඔහුගේ අදහස් ගංගාවක් සේ ගලා ආ බව වාර්තා වේ.මහාචාර්ය නකමුර 1999 ඔක්තෝම්බර් මස 10 දින අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වූ නමුත් චතුමා විසින් බෞද්ධ ප්‍රජාවට කරන ලද අමිල සේවය හේතුවෙන් ඔහුගේ නාමය පෙර අපර දෙදිගම සදා අමරණීය වනු ඇත.
